American Diabetes Association Alert Day

Posted by Chris

Tour de CureDiabetes is a disease that hits very close to home for me. Both my parents and my mom’s mother have it. My dad’s father, who passed away in December 2007, was diabetic.  So was one of the my roommates from college.  Brittany’s cousin developed juvenile diabetes when he was only four years old.   Too many people are diagnosed with this horrible disease.  Luckily, The American Diabetes Association, along with other research organizations, is devoted to finding a cure.

Today is American Diabetes Association Alert Day and according to the ADA’s website today is a “one-day ‘wake-up’ call asking the American public to take the Diabetes Risk Test to find out if they are at risk for developing type 2 diabetes.”   The ADA has created a short test that will show whether you are at low, moderate, or high risk of develping type 2 diabetes.  (Brittany and I both scored as ‘low risk’…for now).  They have also put together some material that helps show how you can lower your chances of developing this form of diabetes. If you would like to head over to their website and see how you fare click on the banner on the next page.
