National Chip And Dip DayChris and I love chips and dip. I mean really, really love them. Ironically, we don’t often enjoy chip and dip snacks at home, but when we do make it out to a restaurant we love to have an appetizer of mexican queso, cheese fondue, or artichoke dip — the spicier or creamier the better! In fact, one of the best parts of our wedding reception menu was a mouth-watering artichoke dip that still makes me salivate when I think back on it. So many brides say they were too busy to eat during their own reception, but I was definitely not one of them, and the dip was partly to blame! Delicious dips have continued to be a weakness throughout our married life — Chris and I thought we’d died and gone to heaven last year when we went to a local craft fair and a woman from our area had six or seven of her best dips available for sampling. We ended up blowing what little cash we had on the dip spices, but it was was well worth it!

I didn’t even realize it until now, but we actually started celebrating National Chip & Dip Day during our lunch. Chris brought some yummy hummus to our company potluck last week and has been munching on the leftovers ever since. I helped him finish it off today with a bag of salty Tostitos (I preferred the “Supremely Spicy” hummus to its garlic-heavy counterpart). Speaking of the potluck, one of our co-workers just started her own Tastefully Simple business and was kind enough to bring some of the goodies, including dips, for everyone to sample. To celebrate today’s “unofficial” we decided to forge a new habit by making some dip at home. Last Christmas when I emptied my stocking from Chris (yes, we do stockings!), he’d filled it with all sorts of goodies from a San Francisco salami and chocolates, to a package of spinach dip seasonings. Every time I’ve opened the pantry since then, I’ve eyed that little package and kept thinking that I needed to make it sometime. Today was the perfect excuse! We just got through enjoying a dinner of spinach dip with Tostitos, and buffalo wings. I am one happy (and full) girl!

And apparently there is no fast for the full — tomorrow is National Chocolate-Covered Raisin Day.
