Blah, Blah, Blah Day, created by the holiday lover’s at wellcat.com, is “a day to do all the things everyone’s been nagging you about.” This may include anything from starting a resolution, quitting a bad habbit, or spending your day doing chores and running errands. Whatever you end up doing, hopefully you make a dent in your endless to-do list.
When Chris and I started dating in 2007 I was going through a divorce and lived in a two bedroom apartment. Unlike the zoo we run now, during that time I had at most two chinchillas and one dog. Because of all the changes that were happening in my life I always felt like there was a lot going on. But, looking back, I see now just how simple life really was for us then! In March 2008 I bought my former house from my ex-husband and thus began the next phase of my life with Chris — a phase full of good times, but also riddled house projects, honey-do lists, and the sinking feeling that we’re never actually caught up with our chores.
To combat some of those sinking feelings Chris and I decided to celebrate Blah Blah Blah Day by knocking a couple of things off of our long honey-do list. Earlier this evening Chris spent some time up on a ladder caulking the crown molding we’d put up in our second floor hallway…two years ago! The un-caulked molding has become a sort of a joke / point of contention between the two of us so, even though the task is still not entirely complete, it was really nice to see some progress made. I’d forgotten, however, that caulking can be messy business so we might need to re-paint parts of the hallway eventually. That will just have to wait for some other Blah Blah Blah Day.
Like any typical Sunday, we also ran alot of errands today. I spent some time clipping coupons this afternoon, and we completed the grocery shopping that was cut short yesterday due to tornado warnings in our area. We even made it to our local arts and crafts store to buy some items in preparation for World Pinhole Photography Day next Sunday. And when we were done with our shopping I finally filed our federal tax return! My only lament is that I forgot, for the third weekend in a row, to drop off my dry-cleaning. Now it’s getting late, but I think I might try to tackle the pile of dishes in the sink and put up a little laundry before I head off to bed. This hasn’t been the most glamorous “unofficial” but I always get the warm fuzzies when I feel like I’ve accomplished something, so it’s been alright with me!
When you stop for coffee in the morning make sure to grab a newspaper — tomorrow is National Columnists Day!
