July is National Hot Dog Month and in 2009 the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council in the USA declared that the very first National Hot Dog Day would be on July 22. While it looks like the exact date differs from year to year, National Hot Dog Day is celebrated on July 23 this year. The hotdog-eating community has informal events celebrated throughout the world called Hot Dog Days. On these Hot Dog Days people gather to not only eat hotdogs but to participate in wiener dog races, root beer chugging contests and face painting, and the proceeds are often given to charity. The National Hot Dog & Sausage Council in the USA is a huge advocate of such events and even gives advice on hotdog eating etiquette. Who knew hotdogs could be such fun?
Today things were a little rushed for us. We were finally able to schedule an appointment to have someone come out and examine us for our life insurance we applied for on Insurance Awareness Day. The appointment was scheduled for 12:30 so we were up bright and early to finish filling out our paperwork, do some yard work, and clean up a little around the house. Of course we had to fast, I guess for the blood work, so we were pretty hungry by the time everything was wrapped up. By this time it was about 2PM and we knew we couldn’t eat too much so we shared a quick bite to eat at Zibibbo Ristorante & Raw Bar, a new restaurant here in Stafford, before heading over to pick up some hotdog buns from Bloom. Since Brittany and I started to coupon we have acquired an abnormally large amount of certain foods, one of which is hotdogs.
