National Night Out

Posted by Brittany

A large portion of the lot was roped off with police tape and it was full of county vehicles, police officers, dogs, children and their parents, and even a firetruck (with a fully extended ladder) and helicopter. There were clowns, balloons, snow cones, hot dogs, and cotton candy, and it took most of my will power to avoid all of the sugary, delicious food…and the clowns. I stopped for awhile to watch a motorcycle demonstration conducted by some of the deputies who circled their bikes in amazingly tight circles, and then visited the booths of a couple of hopefuls running for public office, and a booth setup by the Stafford SPCA. All in all, this was a fun family-oriented event but, for me, crime prevention just wasn’t quite as fun without my own personal partner in crime. I think I’ll have to drag him along next year…and help myself to one of those snow cones.

Until then, I’ll have to quench my sweet tooth with a yummy natural fruit — tomorrow is National Watermelon Day!
