Sneak Some Zucchini on Your Neighbors’ Porch Night

Sneak Some Zucchini on Your Neighbors' Porch NightZucchinis are quite the amazing fruit. Not only are they rather tasty, they are extremely prolific too. Give a zucchini plant a decent amount of bees for proper pollination and you will be feeding the world in no time. Well maybe not the whole world but you will have more zucchinis that you will know what to do with. This is exactly why our friends at created this fun filled holiday.

A few years ago while visiting my grandmother, Brittany and I were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy one of the best sides to a meal we had ever had. My Aunt Gwennie had made sauteed zucchini. For about the next year and a half this was a regular side in the Neigh household. Who knew that zucchini, extra virgin olive oil and some salt and pepper could be so good?

Today’s post is going to be short. We decided to celebrate today because we wanted to be devious. On the way home from work we stopped by our local Bloom to check out the zucchini selection. To our disappointment the italian squash, or zucchini, selection was rather pathetic. There was seriously three zucchinis and every one of them looked pretty beat up. We came home and walked the dogs before heading back out to another Bloom. This time our luck was significantly better. We picked out the four finest zucchinis and our mission began. The plan was to head over to my parents house and drop off our first zucchini, but when my mother pulled up as soon as I was getting out of the car we had to make a quick change of plans. I told my mother about the holiday and told her we were going to drop a zucchini of on their neighbors front porch. As soon as we got to the porch their dogs started barking. We franticly placed the zucchini on one of their chairs, snapped a picture and got the heck out of there. Since my mother saw us, we stopped by their house for a few minutes. On the way out, without them knowing, I strategically placed another zucchini on their storm door handle. Hopefully when they take their dog out for his final walk of the night, it’ll fall on the ground and give them a good laugh.
