Ingersoll Day

Posted by Brittany

By the time I reached the satisfying end, I found myself wishing I was among one of his nineteenth century audiences, watching the great orator in action. I found this particular lecture very in tune with the spirit of today’s “unofficial” — we celebrate Ingersoll Day to honor a great freethinker from our history and inspire others to continue his legacy, which is exactly what Robert Ingersoll was doing as he lectured about Thomas Paine. After all, it was Robert Ingersoll himself who said, “The doubter, the investigator, the Infidel, have been the saviors of liberty. This truth is beginning to be realized, and the truly intellectual are honoring the brave thinkers of the past.”

Tomorrow our sights will still be focused in the past as we celebrate a Vinyl Record Day!
