Family Day – A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Children

Posted by Brittany

So how exactly did we celebrate Family Day if we don’t have any children to eat with? Well, for today’s holiday we got to be the children! It had been much too long since we’d had dinner with both sets of our parents — the last time we were all together might actually have been National Hot Dog Day — so we invited them out to dinner. We weren’t able to start our family date until late in the evening since Chris and I get home so late, but around 8:30 we headed to Outback steakhouse and enjoyed a meal together. Like I mentioned, it had been a long time since we’d all been together, so it was really nice to spend some time catching up, laughing and telling stories over our salads and steaks. This is definitely something we need to do more often, and this evening was a great “practice run” for the new habits we both want to develop. We had a great time and it really got me hoping that the end of summer will mean that our weekends will get a little less crazy and we can resume our traditional family Saturday lunches. And maybe this time next year we’ll need a table for 7 instead of 6!

Tomorrow we’ll show off our brute strength in honor of Crush a Can Day!
