365 days of celebration

National Coffee Day

Posted by Chris

National Coffee DayToday’s post is going to be straight to the point. By now our readers know how much I LOVE coffee. So far we have celebrated National Coffee Ice Cream Day, National Coffee Milkshake Day, National Cafe Au Lait Day, and Drinking Straw Day where I confessed to the world that I drink my coffee with a straw. According to, there is no known origin of National Coffee Day. I’ve decided that it just magically appeared one year.
It’s no surprise that today convenient stores and coffee shops throughout the country offered free or discounted coffee to their customers. The impact of this holiday has even made it to Twitter and currently is number six on the list of top trending topics. You’d think that coffee was addictive or something.
I started my day with a Seattle’s Best Iced Mocha in the car on my way to the metro this morning. It was a nice beginning to what would turn out to be an even better day. At work I took full advantage of the Keurig and made myself a cup of Gloria Jean’s Cappuccino Coffee. It’s not my favorite K-Cup flavor but it is definitely not my least favorite. That tided me over until after lunch when I decided it was time for my usual Venti 2% Milk Unsweetened Iced Coffee, so a coworker and I took a trip to the Starbucks up the street from the office where we ran into another coworker who shares our addiction and was at Starbucks for lunch. By the time I was done with all 24oz. of goodness it was almost time to head out for the night. I jumped on the one of the Capital Bikeshare bikes and headed over to L’Enfant Plaza to catch the train home. I got there a few minutes early and, that’s right, I decided to grab another quick cup of java before getting on the train. I thought I would change things up for a bit this time and ordered a Salted Caramel Mocha. It’s actually a really good drink! At this point I decided that four cups was going to be enough for the day. Before I wrap this up I wanted to point out that Brittany had a cup of coffee today as well. In case you are unaware Brittany is a tea person and this is extremely out of the norm for her. Go Britt!
Tomorrow we celebrate another day dedicated to yet another hot drink. It’s getting to be that time of year, tomorrow is National Mulled Cider Day!
