Today’s holiday isn’t exactly what some may think it is. No we aren’t celebrating how awesome we are, we aren’t going to beat someone up; instead today is about kicking ourselves in the butt and taking action on the goals we have set for ourselves but have yet to achieve. It can be anything, a promise you made but haven’t followed up on, excuses made to help stall something from happening, or a difficult situation we’ve yet to overcome. Today we tackle these hurdles and move forward with life. Today is National Kick-Butt Day!
I can be a bit of a procrastinator when it comes to certain things. I absolutely hate calling people on the phone and will put it off as long as possible. Luckily this is something that I’ve learned to overcome in the workplace but put me in charge with following up on something outside of work and it’s a whole other story. I’ve had my fair share of justified scoldings from Brittany because something didn’t get done in time. Eventually though I get things done, but really that just isn’t enough. There are things that I could face early on that would make things much better in the long run.
Today I’ve tasked myself to do some chores around the house that I’ve been putting off for too long. We are always starting projects and either not finishing them quick enough or if we do it takes about a week to put all of the tools away. Needless to say there are a few tools that I will be putting away as soon as I am done with this post. Last night I had said I would play with the chinchillas and by the time I got enough done and had some time to play with them it was so late I needed to go to bed. Usually they have their playtime at night but to be efficient and make sure I get everything done today I am playing with the now (around 4PM). We also have a tendency to write the posts fairly late in the evening. Not today though! Today chores are first and like I said at the end of yesterdays post I am nipping things in the “butt”.
