October 11th is Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day, an opportunity to bring your most loved teddy bear to the office to meet your coworkers! We learned about teddy bears and their rich history last month on Teddy Bear Day, which we celebrated by taking a lovely family portrait with our “Baby Bear Neigh”, who was “born” at the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory last year. Baby Bear Neigh was also our very cooperative model on Baby Massage Day. But the sweet little guy’s fun hasn’t ended there — today he got to come to work with me!
Chris and I grabbed Baby Bear on the way out the door this morning and he promptly settled in to his daddy’s lap for the morning commute. At one point Chris dozed off and I was able to snap a cute picture of him with our little bear while I was stopped at a red light. Once I got to work I propped Baby Bear up on my desk and started with my daily tasks. During the morning a few people commented on my furry friend. When it was finally time for lunch the little guy accompanied me to the break room. While I was eating my coworkers encouraged me to have a “real” baby and we all exchanged laughs as I pointed out that I wouldn’t be able to put a real baby up on a shelf at the end of the day like I can with my bear. Well, I guess I could, but I might get in a little trouble. Baby Bear and I were both exhausted by the end of the work day but I still had to get in an hour at the gym. He waited for me in the car (again, another instance where teddy bear beats real baby), and we picked up his dad when I was through. It was a pretty eventful day for my little stuffed bundle of joy.
Incidentally, Baby Bear Neigh is just one of many visitors I’ve had at work over the past week. Last Friday Chris came to see the office for the first time since we’d moved to our new space, and came back again yesterday to take me to lunch since he was off for Columbus Day. Also, my parents were in the area last week and were able to walk through the space. So now, if I count Baby Bear Neigh, I’ve had a total of four visitors! Hmmm…now if I could just find a way to sneak the dogs into the no-pets-allowed building!
Tomorrow Chris and I get to keep playing with toys! It’s International Top Spinning Day!
