Transgender Day of Remembrance

Posted by Brittany

I’ve always recommended this movie to people, and appreciated it for opening my young, naive eyes to the prejudice and violence that people who don’t “fit the norm” have to face in their day-to-day lives. In fact, this is one of the films I’ve been telling Chris he had to watch since we first met, so I was glad I had the opportunity to watch it with him tonight. I have to say a part of me was proud to see that, by the end of the movie, he was equally outraged. He was actually yelling at the TV screen to the point that one of our dogs thought she was in trouble! Seeing his reaction, and knowing how I feel about equality and freedom, makes me glad to know that we’ll work hard to raise tolerant and loving children. And who knows, maybe we’ll even inspire a few hard-hearted haters to be a little more accepting along the way.

And what better day than tomorrow to start sharing our little rays of acceptance with others? Tomorrow is World Hello Day!
