National Pfeffernusse Day

I have to admit that, as much as I love baking, Chris really took the lead on this one. He cooked the molasses and honey mixture over the stovetop, mixed all of the dry ingredients, and even used the dough’s two hour chill time to do a lot of little things around the house! But, alas, partly due to the cookies’ need to chill before baking, we are up until almost 2AM again. Right now Chris is rolling the dough balls and our oven just finished pre-heating. We’re going to bake up this batch and hope they’re not so hard that we can’t serve them as a dessert at tomorrow’s gathering. If they are, we might just have to let them soften and eat them as a New Year’s Eve treat!

Tomorrow is the big day: Christmas Eve, our big family celebration, and National Eggnog Day!
