  1. This article is lacking something – the fact that the Obama Administration just passed indefinite detention of American citizens without trial, effectively stripping the full protection of the 5th amendment from every american citizen.

    (The administration also recently made it legal to assassinate american citizens even when not on the battlefield, having done this publicly and in the open for the first time in american history.)

    But yes – the fact that due process under the law was effectively removed from the constitution *ON* national bill of rights day just goes to show how far removed we are from having the full rights originally intended by the constitution.

    Remember how much the constitution limited treason? So they just passed new laws that weren’t treason (but really were simply more specific definitions of treason, like “aiding the enemy”), that way they wouldn’t be limited by the constitution.

    Every amendment is mostly dead at this point.
