  1. Aww, I love writing letters and cards. Right now, the recipient is most likely my grandmother. Although I don’t get to see her that frequently, I very much enjoy sitting outside and spending some time getting her up to date on my life. Sometimes on the phone, she can’t hear me that well. But you don’t need to hear to read and look at my pictures of canoe outings, hikes and neighborhood kids! It is always quality time, the time I take to write to my grandmother.

P.S. Guess who was a pen pal of mine! Ryan! We’ve been writing letters back and forth since the late 90′s!!! (The earliest letter I can recall without getting up and looking was from 1999, but Ryan believes we were writing before that). We mostly wrote about Vonnegut and various other books. Still, I suspect if it weren’t for letters, we would have never become more than acquaintences and certainly wouldn’t be together today!

  2. Vicky, I’m sure your grandmother really appreciates your cards and letters! And what a great story about you and Ryan. It doesn’t make perfect sense, but I think people often find it easier to express their thoughts to each other in letters.
